Pan Banana Bread

 

The skillet is a such fundamental part of Revinian cooking culture. It's not merely a tool to conjure up meals with, it is a core part of any cook's identity. Skillets were invented in Reavon and these cooking utensils of cast iron were the prized possession of any cook, typically handed down to them from their parents, or the cook they learned under.

Pan Banana Bread is a uniquely Revinian dish, due to the blend of rare ingredients with traditional bread, that in Reavon, was usually cooked from a skillet. Bananas and sugar were both ingredients local only to the Eleran Rainforest nestled between southern Reavon and northern Melaine. Adding these ingredients as well as the delicacies of cinnamon and nutmeg from Neferkara, transformed what was a staple of the common people - bread - into something worthy of the monarch's plate.

 

Revinian elites didn't often dine on bread, seeing it as a poor people's food. Despite this, providing their guests pan banana bread showcased their wealth and ability to afford a wide range of difficult to acquire ingredients.

Wenceslan Cream

Wenceslan Cream was a wildly popular light appetizer throughout Reavon originating in the city of Wenceslan just south of Atula. It consisted of lemons from the jungles near Penwyn, heavy whipping cream, and a recent invention out of the city - sugar syrup (simple syrup)– the sugar from Melaine. It had an airy and ever so slightly runny consistency, tasting similar to butter with a sharp sweet punch.

Ingredients

Pan Banana Bread​

  • 1. 5 ripe bananas 

  • 1 and 2/3 cup of sugar

  • 2 eggs

  • 1/2 cup of heavy whipping cream

  • 2 and 1/2 cups of flour

  • 2 teaspoons of baking soda

  • 2 teaspoons of cinnamon

  • 1 teaspoon of nutmeg

  • 1/4 Cup of powdered sugar

Wenceslan Cream

  • 1 cup of heavy whipping cream

  • 1/3 cup of freshly squeezed lemon juice

  • 1/2 cup of water

  • 1/4 cup of sugar

Recipe

Pan Banana Bread​

  • Combine bananas, sugar, eggs, and heavy whipping cream together in a large bowl.

  • Combine flour and baking soda, stirring into the mixture.

  • Pour batter into a 9inch x 9inch skillet, then add cinnamon and nutmeg and mix well.

  • Bake in the oven at 325 degrees for one hour, or until the center is fully baked.

Wenceslan Cream

  • Bring water and sugar to a simmer, mixing until becoming thicker.

  • Combine sugar-water, heavy whipping cream, and lemon juice until the mixture becomes thick
