The Ancestors Faith

The concept of a strict set of gods is not part of this faith, but rather everyone is honored by their descendants. Those who make a large impact in life are honored by more, and may be included among the core gods. Because of this, many different gods are worshiped in many different corners of the northern kingdom. Many Arerlundians worship a core set of six gods who rule over various aspects of the world. These gods, like familial ancestors, are commonly referred to with titles such as father, mother, brother, or sister, among other titles.

The Ancestors faith is highly decentralized, with no preeminent religious figure. Local priests reign supreme in their stave temples. Priests are predominantly women, but men may devote their lives to worship too. The priests are typically powerful figures who act as healers, soothsayers, prophesiers and speakers for the countless ancestor spirits, as well as the core six deities. Below are the six most widely worshiped Ancestors:

Ogima – The father, lord of justice, war, and prophesy. He is the strongest and most respected of the Ancestors. Nemiri is his wife, and they are the mother and father of all life on Etuin. He has a thick braided greyish red beard with one green and one blue eye. He wears white armor covered in hides.

Nemiri – The mother, the lady of fertility, life, family, and love. She is an older woman with greyish blonde hair, blue eyes, and wears a long white gown covered with animal furs around her shoulders.

Mir – The brother, lord of death, deceit, larceny, and curses. Mir’s face is largely hidden in the shadow of his cowl, but the lower half of his face reveals he is light grey, with the appearance of a recently deceased corpse with black lips. His teeth are dagger-like and his eyes are pure black. He wears a black cowl and cape.

Pilluit – The sister, lady of sorrow, remorse, and despair. She is the patron of murder. She is incredibly beautiful with long black hair, tan skin, and pure black eyes. She wears long black robes covered in black coyote’s hide.

Morata – The lady of the land, sky, and nature. She is the hunter and the patron of freedom, animals, and the nomadic life. She has snow white skin and is often depicted carrying a bow with a snow owl on her shoulder. She doesn’t wear much, except for a few animal hides thrown over herself.

Crevan – The lord of change and ambition. Crevan looks out for himself. He cares not for the betterment of all unless he stands to gain in some way. He wears leather armor with a black tunic over it and carries a large battle-axe.
