The Burned Man

The Burned Man

Any shred of humanity within him was lost, forfeit somewhere along the way in the centuries of torment and destruction the wretched being left in its wake. The Burned Man's visage was frightening. He had no ears, no nose, and no lips; the skin around his mouth had receded and revealed his serrated teeth. His eyes were a milky white, glazed without color, and rings around his eyes were black as midnight. His skin was paper white and had an unnatural glean.

About the Burned Man

Edric was his name in life, and back then, nearly fifteen hundred years ago, he was a powerful warlord who conquered much of Northern Valtiel. His malice knew no end, and many tales have been told about his methods of torture and his desire to taste human flesh. This was long ago, in the earliest days of human history in the known world.

Edric told his courtiers of the dark whispers he heard in his mind, his master calling to him to serve. Edric headed the call, completing the Dark Ritual resulting in his self-immolation. It was here where his master bestowed upon him terrible gifts, transforming him into the first deathwalker. This and the tales of his cruelty led to his reign being known as the Deathwalker Court. Thus the Burned Man was born.

Since then, the Burned Man has roamed the world, feasting on the blood of the living to sustain himself as he worked to bring about his master's return. The dark gifts given to him took their toll, and now the Burned Man walks the land a mere husk ravenously stalking the innocent to survive. Each of the major characters in the Fall of Kings will have their own encounter with the Burned Man, for he is the eyes and ears of a greater force yearning to return to Valtiel.
